23 [Open Post] The Tanabata Festival And All Kinds Of Summer Events!

The Rainy Season is drawing to a close, and it's getting warmer by the day in City *****...

And now, it's time for the Tanabata Festival, and all kinds of other Summer Events!

The Merchant District and World Tree Mart have all started their Annual Tanabata And Summer Sales, with big Tanbata Bamboos and slips of colorful paper to write Tanabata wishes on.

The Pools, Beaches, and Seaside Resorts are all gearing up for the Summer Season. So are the various Mountain Resorts.

But wait - Something strange is happening, as it often does in the World Tree System.

The Tanabata bamboos all over City ***** have been replaced by tiny, tiny twigs of the World Tree itself! They still look like bamboos, but now, they're covered with small beautiful flowers.

And they are also humming with magical energies.

[Tanabata Reality Wave : All the wishes written on the slips of colorful paper and tied to the flowering bamboo-twigs will now start to give the World Tree all kinds of ideas. The World Tree might or might not grant the wishes, or do something else entirely - And it does have a strange sense of humor, to say the least.]

[Whether the characters are affected or not by the Reality Waves are all up to their Muns. All the Reality Wave's effects will end in 3 days, or whenever the Muns want them to end.]

[This is an open post, and the Muns can make up events and thread with each other as long as it fits the themes.]

[Kumada Yuuichiro slowly poked at the Tanabata Bamboos he'd put up just yesterday.]

...Rei-chan? I'm not sure, but...the bamboos weren't flowering the last time we looked at them, right?

[Rei sweatdropped at that. Something strange was happening, all right - Yet again.]

[And then, she closed her eyes, and tried to figure out what was going on.]

- Well, um - It doesn't feel evil or anything, so that's one thing we don't have to worry about, I think, but...

[And then, Rei looked around, right at the much bigger World Tree "twig" growing in middle of City *****, and sweatdropped again.]

[Oi, oi...]

Tanabata at the Hakurei Shrine and Keigo and Meridia's festival date!

[Reimu is bustling about the Hakurei shrine getting ready for the festival and her festival shrine maiden duties, frowning in annoyance as she senses the reality of world tree bring a time overlap over. as it turns out from a couple decades ago, as the previous hakurei maiden and Reoimus mother in the future Reika Hakurei was also getting ready.


meanwhile Meridia skipped about the festival merrily, holding Keito's hand and wearing a pink yutaka with purple flowers on it. Meridia and Keito had known eachother for a few motnhths in Gensokyou now and the two had gotten quite close] "Wow! here we are, my first time at a Japanese summer festival! This all looksso fun and exciting! I dont know what to try first!"

...You shouldn't try to run too much, Merida - You're not used to the sandals you're wearing now, after all!

[Indeed, Merida was now wearing a very nice looking pair of Japanese style sandals.]

[And then, he looked around, and blinked, rubbing his eyes.]

[...Was he just seeing double, or...]

[...No. Wait.]

[On the left was Reika-san. And on the right was...]

[A half transparent young lady in a Shrine Maiden outfit who Keigo was pretty sure he had never seen in his life before.]

[...She did look a bit like Reika-san, though, now that he could see her a bit better.]

( extremely like reika san in fact! Could they be related? And then in the vision, a girl with a mass of wavy blond hair, flying on a broomstick just like meridia, but this wasnt meridia, fluttering up to the dark haired shrine maiden. But before keigo could get a good look at this girl’s face, there was something special sbout her, meridia ended up tripping on her sandAls anyway, distracting him. The vision vanished for now.


Back in the present , reimu made a face as she sensed the world tree reality twitches too. But she didnt feel like checking it out, she had a shrune to prepare for a festival! And here was best friend marisa coming to visit and to help. But marisa felt a bit unusually forlorn, holding onto a book that had belonged to her late mother she had found in the clutter of random junk in her cottage)

I really wish I could meet my mother again...

[But then, she caught sight of a flowering bamboo lookalike, and sighed.]

- But on the other hand, making wishes like that always causes trouble. What should I do?

[Aand that was when a piece of colored paper which had been folded into a cute bookmark floated out of her mother's book!]

[Marisa stared as the colored paper floated over to the flowering bamboo lookalikes, and attached itself to one of the branches.]

[And then, the colored paper shined with magic, and opened up by itself!]

[I really, truly, want to meet my daughter when she's older. Please, please, make it so.]

[Marisa felt a pang as she recognized her mother's handwriting. And what kind of wish was that? Unless, her mother knew she wasn't going to live much longer. she had been acting rather strange the last couple of days until she disappeared. could this note be from then? And what was wwith this spell now?
"Geez Marisa, no magic now! " [reimu complained]
"It wasn't me ze!"
[Reimu shrugged and headed out to the front grounds of the shrug to work on more decorations there, making a face as she felt a bigger reality shift.
And that's when what looked like Marisa, now in a pink yutaka and some more braids in her hair, suddenly jumped onto Reimu in a hug] "Reiii!! hi! Wow the shrine looks super great! I like all these decorations!"

[Reimu stared at the newcomer, who most definitely wasn't Marisa, even though she looked a lot like her.]

...See, Reika-chan? I told you you didn't have to worry about people coming to your Shrine!

[Reimu slowly sweatdropped, then, and tried to push the strange girl away. It didn't work, as the strange girl was as clingy as Marisa could be when she was in a clingy mood.]

...I...I don't think you've got the right person, Miss...?

[And then, she swallowed, her eyes going wide.]

[What had this girl just called her?]

[And in the meanwhile...]

[Keigo groaned as he came to his senses behind a bush nearby.]

[What in the world had just happened?]

"Reika... that's .. Reika Hakurei.... " [Reimu was stunned. That was her mother's name. This girl , was mistaking her for Reika Hakurei, her mother?" "'But, I'm not Reika Hakurei. I'm Reimu Hakurei."
"eh?! Reium Hakurei no way! Dont tell me, Reika has a twin sister!!

[Marisa, in the meanwhile, was staring at the girl who was busy hugging Reimu, her eyes growing wider and wider.]

[The girl looked like her, sure enough, but...]

.......Mom?

[Marisa whispered, sounding not like her usual self at all.]

( marisa was stun still. Yes, identical to her mother. Even the chipper airheaded attitude she had moments of. And reika, reimu’s mother...?)

[Marisa opened her mouth, and then closed it, suddenly feeling dizzy.]

[And then, she staggered and fell!]

[Merida gasped, and let go of the girl who looked just like Reika.]

- Hey!

[And then she sighed in relief as Keigo came running over, and caught the girl who looked just like herself.]

Usagi and John's Tanabata Thread!

[Tsukino Usagi looked at the flowering bamboo lookalikes, quizzically.]

[Somebody was in a mood to play games, it seemed.]

[...Well, she wasn't quite sure what the World Tree System was thinking of right now, actually, but never mind that. Usagi was pretty sure the World Tree System didn't know what itself was thinking of most of the time, anyhow.]

[Oh, well, then.]

[Usagi wrote her wish down on the prettily colored tanzaku, and tied to the the World Tree twig that was currently pretending to be a bamboo with flowers.]

(I wish I could understand John-san better, because he is my friend.)

[And then, she sighed a bit.]

[She really didn't even understand Mamo-chan all that much, even if she did love him and thought he'd be a great husband and father when they actually got married.]

[What Usagi was not at all sure of was if she could be a great wife and mother to the same extent, to be honest, but she was willing to try her best, anyway.]

[...The thing was, though...She didn't really love Mamo-chan like the Moon Princess had loved the Moon Prince.]

[That love had been like burning fire and intoxiating like brandy, but what she felt for Mamo-chan was...]

[It was just plain different, to be honest. Like...Like some kind of nabe on a cold day, with the whole family together, just laughing and eating together.]

[Or maybe like a really nice chocolate cake and tea and milk.]

[Ahh, well.]

[...Things were confusing at times, but that was life, she supposed.]

I wish I could see the world their way again.

It had been years since John had landed in this world. He had learned how to care for the younger heroines. He had learned to fight with the way of the senshi, and allowed it to become a part of his being. He had learned how to fight beside the heroes of hundreds of worlds, and become their mentor for what would be a hard life.

But as the wind blew over him, John looked down with his black yukata with silver trims. He looked at the tiny paper he wrapped around one of the tree branches, alongside countless other wishes the tree now bore.

He closed his eyes, and stepped aside. After the ordeal with ONI, John'd hardened nature came back, almost threatening to crush the idealism that had grown with him from living in this world. He remembered what was it like to fight with hope, and trusting your very organization.

The way it was when the war began. Before it tore him down. Before Reach.

John blinked. He glanced up, seeing Usagi, as she looked just as pensive as he did. Without a word, John stepped beside her, popped open his thermos, and poured hot earl gray tea over a cup for her.

[Usagi was now wearing a deep blue yukata with dancing rabbits and moons symbols on it, which her mother had given her.]

[She nibbled on the cookies, and looked at John-san, wondering how the world looked like, looking through his eyes.]

[Tsukino Usagi, Spartan, woke up on a unfamiliar bed in an unfamiliar room, when her mother woke her up.]

- Usagi! Come on, you're going to be late for Uni again, right?

[Usagi stared in a blind panic at the woman in front of her.]

[...This was her mother.]

[Her mother.]

[Who was supposed to believe she was dead.]

Usagi-018 woke up inside of the sealed environment of her own heavy armor, resting over what was a bed that somehow withheld her weight.

It took only a thought for both herself and the white armor with blue and red sections to bolt her out of bed the moment she overheard a woman that had only been there in her dreams. Under Spartan time, something that happened the very moment she overheard that woman...

Problem was, her motions had always betrayed her. Her arms extended way higher than most other Spartans did, and recoiled back with a handful of steps as she was recognized...

"Um, I think you must have confused me for someone else, ahahahaha..." Usagi spoke from within her white MJOLNIR armor. She settled out front... outright towering over the person in question. Usagi herself was seven feet tall in full armor. The person that everything in her screamed that was her mother from Luna was barely five feet and a half.

As much as Usagi wanted to know about her mother... she just couldn't risk it. She cared too much for Rei, Ami, Makoto, and Minako to reveal herself to others. Even... even perhaps to her own family. Maybe if there was time...

She pointed aside, "can I... got outside for a moment? I'll... talk to you later! Yeah."

[Ikuko groaned, then.]

...Usagi, please.

I know you like cosplaying sometimes, but why are you inside that...robot thing?

[There was a giggle, then, and a pink-haired teenager came into view.]

- Yeah, Usagi, this really is too much - You might have wrecked the bed or something, after all!

[Usagi swallowed, wondering what to say - ]

[- And that was when a silver haired girl poked her head into the room. She looked a lot like Usagi had used to look like, back in the day when...]

[When...]

[...She had lived with her...]

[Spartan Usagi jumped out of the window of Usagi's room, then, breaking both windows and part of the windowframes in the process.]

Miss Usagi! Please stop breaking my windows!

[An AI voice cried out after her, forlornly, but Spartan Usagi didn't even pause for that - She had more pressing things to deal with then what she assumed was some kind of domestic AI, after all.]

[She ran into a nearby park, and hid behind some big trees, panting, and then touched a link.]

(...Endy? Endy? My - My replacement clone. She's still alive. She's - She's...She's...)

[His mother called.]

- You'll miss your breakfast, and then you'll be sorry, I bet...

It was a bigger bed than what John remembered having last slept in, and for the first time in years, John slept soundly. As a young man, sleeping nearly ten hours tonight, in the most peaceful sleep he's ever had in a long time. Distant from the nightmares of another world.

He blinked awake. His blond head looked up through the open window, as sunlight gleamed through.

"It's not challenging enough..." He almost wanted to stay in bed, sleeping, and enjoying the weekend he had been given.

But, as his senses cleared, he realized he had been in bed for thirty minutes longer. His mother called to him.

He woke up, scruffled his blond hair, took a rapid shower. And then, the blond teen bolted down by running over the walls with his hand over the rail, dashed down near the table, and sank everything in a neat tower to be impaled by his fork, which he ate with big cheeks.

John gulped it all down, smiled, and then wrapped his hands around his mom. A familiar smell of soap. A caring presence he knew better than to ever lose...

"Thank you, mom." He then looked up with a grin, "I love you."

Then, he dashed out, running through the streets, already knowing it was turning late. But, nothing wrong with using something to actually arrive in time to class, is there?

He extended his toy pistol out. A glow materialized around him, and enveloped him, until his outfit turned into that of a musketeeer with exposed blond, gleaming hair.

Just in time, he turned to a massive woman in armor breaking through the windows.

In a cue, Usagi-018 broke through the window, and slammed her heavy armored body onto the asphalt, and stood up... just as Endy spoke through her mind, warning her of what she had heard...

"She was me," Usagi stated, "the Doctor told me... that she would not continue for long. Is it possible... that the medical treatment might have kept her well?"

Her visor then glanced up, "it might be more than possible in here... could it be that--"

Usagi-018 snapped onto the first sound she heard with her rifle.

There was a boy. In bright, musketeer-like clothes, already prepared with his own musket. Looking at eachother in confusion.

[Spartan Usagi's sweatdrop was so big now that it almost dwarfed her face.]

- Endy? What in the world is going on, here?

[Aand that was when the Endymion AI made it's holo body pop up next to her! It looked like a cute knight doll with a mask, this time.]

...We are in a different world, my memories are making even less sense then usual, and there is a Magical Boy pointing a magical weapon at you?

[Magical Boy John groaned, then.]

...You know, calling teenage females "girls" in one thing, but I happen to be a male, all right?

I'd think I was too old to be called a "boy", to be honest.

[Usagi looked at him, then, a slight snicker on her face.]

- Why, you do look like a male, now that I think about it, though you're awfully pretty - But calling you a "Magical Young Man" sounds really strange, don't you think?

John stood still in awe at the gigantic woman in front of her. He tilted his head up as soon as he knew this armored person was speaking to someone inside of her own helmet.

"I'm not cute!" John whined. He stepped forward, little by little. He wasn't pretty! Well, mom found him charming, and had a lot of girl friends for some reason, but...

Every step he took, he looked up, and up, and up...

"You are talking to someone in there, aren't you?" John extended a hand... grasping at the woman's armor.

"You are a strange grown-up... You are not a demon, are you?"

...Yeah, yeah, there's a real person in here, and I'm a female, thanks.

[Spartan Usagi said, sounding frazzled indeed - ]

- And I don't think I'm a demon of any kind, but I bet some of the people I've fought wouldn't agree with that assesement at all.

[And then, she rubbed her forehead, thinking.]

(...Endy? Can you take over the armor for me?)

(- I am not at all sure this is wise, Usagi.)

[Endy answered her, making his little knight doll holo look worried.]

(- I know, I know. But I've survived this far anyway, so I must be doing something right, don't you think?)

[And several minutes later...]

[John was staring as the big robot opened up, and up, and up.]
